The workshop which has taken place in the coastal town of Berbera, primarily aimed to enhance the capacity of local governments in cultivating effective transformative leadership, with a focus on the mayors representing Hargeisa, Berbera, Borama, Gabiley, Aynabo, and a council member from Taleh.

The workshop convened interactive sessions with the participants engaged in discussions and activities aimed at explaining the core principles and characteristics that define transformative leadership in the context of disaster risk management (DRM) at the district level. An integral facet of the workshop was the practical application of transformational leadership strategies and skills tailored specifically for DRM at the district level.

Through case studies, simulations, and real-world examples, participants gained insights into implementing transformative leadership approaches to address challenges associated with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Participants were guided through exercises that enabled them to showcase the application of transformational leadership principles both proactively, in pre-disaster planning and preparedness, and reactively, in the aftermath of disasters.
