A Successful Week-Long Business Trip: Strengthening Partnerships and Fostering Development

In a testament to collaboration and dedication, a delegation from the Local Governments of Somaliland and the Disaster Management Agency recently embarked on a fruitful business trip to Nairobi, Kenya. Led by esteemed leaders including the Mayor of Hargeisa, the Governor of NADFOR, the Mayor of Burco District, the Director of the Association of Local Governments of Somaliland (ALGASL), and the representative of VNG, this journey aimed at not only enhancing the development of Local Government Service Delivery and Management but also addressing the pressing issue of disaster relief in the face of climate change.

During their week-long stay, the delegation engaged in a series of strategic meetings with key stakeholders, including ambassadors and representatives from the UK, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Additionally, face-to-face discussions were held with various UN agencies, further cementing the commitment to collaboration in development and humanitarian aid.

A pivotal focus of these meetings was the comprehensive overview and discussion of the progress made in Somaliland. The delegation passionately emphasized the importance of fostering opportunities and cooperation between Somaliland and the international community. Central to this discussion was the presentation of the Somaliland Special Arrangements Document, urging direct engagement with Somaliland to initiate new projects and initiatives.

The significance of the delegation's efforts was duly recognized by Ambassador Mohamed Barwan, D. Ambassador Sharmarke Geele, and First Secretary Smail Shirwac, who actively participated and acknowledged the delegation's work activities during their time in Nairobi, Kenya.
